Adding to an already stellar range of apps for architects and designers, today The Morpholio Project has launched Crit, a messaging app for architects which allows users to critique designs, share ideas and send key information such as dimensions and materials. With modern architectural projects relying on increasingly large teams of architects, engineers, project managers and contractors, design decisions have to be shared with a large number of people - leading to slow decisions in an increasingly fast-paced world. According to Morpholio, the idea for the Crit App arose from the question: "What if photos, sketches, images, drawings, and comments could be instantly fused into a single legible “design” discussion?"
Crit provides architects, designers and artists with a way to connect these various modes of communication. Photographs can be overlaid with sketches or annotations, multiple people can be invited to critique a design, and alongside, a messaging service which encourages brevity and speed provides a place for a seamless discussion about proposed alterations. There's even an "Eyetime" feature which tells users which images have received the most attention from their colleagues.
"E-mail discussions are simply disconnected in two key ways," says Morpholio Co-Creator Toru Hasegawa. "You never know when someone will or is responding, and the attachments are visually separated from the conversation." By contrast, Crit aims to provide designers, contractors and clients a place to discuss design decisions that is instant, intuitive and innately visual.
"We have developed Crit to provide THE 'real time' missing infrastructure between designers today," says Anna Kenoff, Morpholio Co-Creator. "It is an opportunity to bypass the friction of your inbox and move a design collaboration forward."
